It’s back, football returns as the Cheshire League gets going

After a summer of sunshine, BBQ’s and World Cup dreams the Cheshire League Premier Division returns tomorrow with a full fixture list and plenty of new faces on display.

With the North West Counties League expanding over the summer it’s a new look Cheshire League this season. Cheadle Heath Nomads, Ashton Town, Wythenshawe Town and Rylands have all made the step up the Pyramid, with Daten, Egerton, FC St Helens, Middlewich Town and Pilkington all taking their place in the Premier Division.

Poynton open their account with a tough test against Billinge, the game last season saw the visitors return to Warrington with a 3-0 victory.

Competition for places has never been stronger and the squad selection has been tough, with several quality players in the reserve squad tomorrow for their trip to Golborne.

Manager Andy Hurst has been busy over the summer and he’s looking forward to the start of the season. “We are all looking forward to the new season and several new signings are in the squad, Quinn, Manson, Kennerley and Astbury.

Billinge is a tough start for us, they were one of the in form sides for the second half of the season beating us in both the league and league cup”
