POYNTON SWING INTO ACTION AS OLD BOYS TAKE THE HONOURS

By 24th June 2019 No Comments

It was the annual Poynton Football Club Golf Day on Friday and the sunshine came out at Davenport Golf Club in time for the first tee off!

It was another great turnout, a mix of First Team, Reserves and old boys and the sunshine after a week of bad weather was an extra bonus with the course in superb condition.

Closest to the Pin – Andy Cowell

The Nearest to the Pin contest was won by Andy Cowell, hitting it to about 6 feet, very dubious considering he doesn’t remember what club he hit on a tricky 180 yard par 3 which for him would probably be at least a 3 wood!

Longest Drive – Jared Merrygold

The Longest Drive contest was won by low handicapper Jared Merrygold, closely pipping tournament organiser Mark Hough (absolute travesty!) in a closely fought contest, Hough coming so close to winning.

The hugely anticipated Pairs Competition was won by old boys Scott Bajic and Ian Bailey beating Andy Hurst and Dan Laffey (2nd) and Ed & Rick Bailey (3rd).

1st Price was a Golf Lesson supplied by Dan Haughian at the Adlington Driving Range.

Worst performance of the day unfortunately goes to Ben Worth, who proved a huge let down to his partner Andy Cowell – contributing 0 points!

Huge thanks to Davenport Golf Course and Dan Haughian and also Mark Hough for organising another fantastic day!
