Poynton FC are looking to finish the 2018/19 season on a high before a big summer on and off the field.
There is only one league game left, a home tie with FC St Helens tomorrow, before the Stockport FA Cup Final on May 20th at Edgeley Park against High Lane. Manager Andy Hurst is hoping for a positive end to a season that has had a rollercoaster feel to it.
Following the impressive away win at Knutsford in January, Poynton sat in 3rd place just 6 points behind leaders Altrincham Reserves. Fast forward to end of April and just 1 win in the last 6 league games have seen them drop to 7th, 22 points behind Champions Pilkington FC.
The fact that Poynton did the double over the new Champions remains another frustrating stat for Manager Andy Hurst, along with consistent availability issues with his squad, niggling injuries and poor form.
The Reserves have enjoyed another positive season with a number of youngsters making their senior debut and ten players making the step up from Reserve to 1st Team during the season. A disappointing exit in the Northern Cup Quarter Finals to North Walkden and too many draws have been the only negative but with a strong squad in place hopes are high for next season.
Off the field the Beer Fest is on the horizon and will be the biggest the club has ever done with 3 days – click here for more info. The club will also make improvements to the website over the summer after agreeing a deal with a new Digital Marketing partner for the new season as well as looking to bring in new sponsors to support the club.
Hopefully the season can end on a high with the Stockport Cup and it can be a bright, busy and positive summer for PFC.
