A new look management team has been confirmed for the Reserves ahead of the new season but it has a very familiar look to it.

Andy Cowell will become the new manager and brings bags of experience having previously managed the 1st team at Poynton on two separate occasions – he has also been assistant manager for the last three seasons at the club.

Cowell brought great success to the club with the team winning the Cheshire Football League Division 1 title in 2014.

He will be assistant by Mark Faulkner who will take up the role in a player/assistant manager capacity. Faulkner was the team’s top scorer last season and hit an incredible 4 hat-tricks in the campaign.

Faulkner said “It’s a great opportunity to be able to work with the reserves squad, which already has a good balance of young and experienced players within it, and has a real chance of achieving success next season.

The reserves will play a key part in supporting Jon and the First Team over the next few years, and look forward to more of the younger players making that transition into the First Team squad.

After 14 seasons as a player with the club, it felt like the right time to take a more senior role and can’t wait to get going”

The will also be assisted by Jake Haresnape who has been assistant manager for the last two season whilst recovering from a serious knee injury. He is also going to be a player/assistant manager.

Haresnape said “I’m delighted to continue in the role since working with Jon for the past two seasons. We have had exemplary players throughout and had some great successes in promoting into the first team set up. I’m excited to start with the new management team and continue this trend.

I’d like to place on record my thanks to Jon for giving me the opportunity to stay involved with the team for what has been a challenging period for me personally and wish him all the best with the First Team.

I am nearing the end of my long road to recovery from a knee operation so I will also be looking to get back into action on the pitch.”

Manager Jon Hudson is delighted with the new team. “The experience and know how that Andy and Faulky bring will be invaluable to the team. Jake has been brilliant as my assistant the last two seasons as well. It is essential that we continue with the development of these players and the Under 21’s to ensure that the transition to 1st team football continues”

The new Cheshire League season is hopefully starting in September but no confirmation has been given yet when the new season will start.
