POYNTON RES 0
VULCAN RES 0
Poynton Reserves and Vulcan Reserves played out an entertaining 0-0 draw, with both teams having a man sent off, a result which extends the teams unbeaten run in the league to twelve games.
Vulcan arrived at London Road in Fourth place and both teams started brightly, the home side creating the first chance when Merrygold burst through and forced the keeper into a good save.
Heath then had two great opportunities to open the scoring, a low drive from outside the box was well blocked and then the full back found space in the box from a corner but missed the target with a right foot volley.
Cairns was next to test the Vulcan keeper, another good break but good defending made the angle tight and the keeper made the save.
At the other end Clancy saved well from a snapshot and Rashleigh and Gregory continued their good form with another strong performance.

The second half started well for the home side, Leavy put through by Cairns was one on one with the keeper, but he stood up strong and blocked the shot and the danger was cleared.
The games major incident arrived on 52 minutes. A horrendous tackle by Vulcan captain Mark Carrey on Callum Evans sparked a round of handbags, Heath needlessly getting involved. The referee showed a straight red card to Carrey for the tackle and Heath a straight red for raising his hands in the melee that followed.
Heaton replaced the unfortunate Merrygold in the reshuffle and the game became a much tighter affair with both sides just playing with one striker.
Graham replaced Leavy and was soon causing problems down the left wing but couldn’t find a final pass to Cairns inside the area.
A huge clearance from Clancy was brilliantly brought under control by Graham who fed Cairns but his shot hit the side netting and the danger was gone.
Full-time arrived after only an extra minute being added on by the official with both sides having giving there all.
Next up for the Reserves is a Northern Cup 3rd Round clash against one of the favourites to win the cup, Market Drayton Tigers from the Staffordshire County Senior League. The game, at London Road, next Saturday – kicking off at 1:30pm.

MAN OF THE MATCH
Another solid performance from Rashleigh at the back against physical opposition, rarely gave them a sniff. Credit also to Charlie Gregory, Rob Stokoe and Callum Evans who also impressed.
