1 - 1Full Time
Tuesday night saw us travel to local rivals Whaley Bridge, historically a very tough place to come and pick up points.
Both teams started brightly put it was Whaley who were unfortunate not to find them selves in the lead – a well worked move resulted in the Whaley striker hitting the post; a huge let off.
Both teams pushed for that opener but both sides stayed resolute and minimised each other’s threat with Garvey and Morris looking in full control.
On the stroke of half time, Chris Allen picked the ball up on the edge of the opposition box, dinked his way into the box, the Whaley defender missed timed his tackle, Allen remained on his feet but an excellent piece of refereeing saw Allen be rewarded for his honestly and the penalty was awarded.
Jay Burgess stepped up and smashed the ball into the bottom corner.
This was Burgess’ last involvement – Hurst was forced into a change with Burgess feeling his groin, Rob Black was brought into the action.

The second half started the same as the first with both teams pushing their attacking players forward. Nick Ward was forced into some fine saves but the score remained the same.
70 minutes on the clock and the game was all square – the Whaley player found himself with too much space in the box and finished nicely.
We pressed for the winner after securing the equaliser Whaley sat deep and defended very well.
In the 89th minute, the ball fell to Jake Wright on the edge of the box, he let fly but the ball went millimetres over the bar.
The game finished 1-1 and probably a fair result.
